Listed below is your list. There is no way Jr. should be 3rd on this list. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of his, and a huge NASCAR fan. However, he is driving C. Mears equipment from last year, the #25 team, and that car has never been tops at Hendrick. I'd give the edge to Jeff Gordon at #1 for experience and consistency, 2 - J. Johnson, 3-Stewart, 4-Matt Kenseth (for consistency reasons), 5- Hamlin, 6- Harvick, 7- Kurt Busch, 8- Edwards, 9- Dale Jr, 10- Truex, 11-Burton 12, Bowyer, 13 Kyle Busch --> downgrade to the 18 w/ Gibbs, 14-Biffle (could place a bit higher), and 15- Ryan Newman (again could be higher)...most outside of this group are longshots on consistency which is most important in NASCAR...:toast:

I think you did ok, can't really argue with your order, but if you just want an alternative opinion........

First you can't go wrong with Johnson, Gordon and Stewart. I think Earnhardt Jr. will do well but right now I'm thinking Top 6 or 7 at best since this is year 1 with Hendrick, but not impossible that he will do better.
In the last 25 races last year Mears and the 25 team had 15 Top 15's, 9 Top 10's and 5 Top 5's with one win. Not Johnson or Gordon numbers but not bad. With Tony Eury Jr. as crew chief and Earnhardt Jr as driver I think they will better those numbers.

Also in the top half I like Kenseth to challenge for a Top 5 finish in points.
He is normally ultra consistent and the whole Roush-Fenway organization is looking for a better performance in '08 after dropping the ball last year especially with their COT package.

In the second ten I'm looking for Montoya, Mears and Kyle Busch to surprise. JPM should show vast improvement after a full year under his belt and he has the best team in the Ganassi organization. Mears is with a Top 10 team and Kyle Busch is a Top 10 driver with an under achieving team.

Not sure how much this helps but thats my two cents.

Good Luck this year!

Despite changing to Toyota I wouldn't underestimate Joe Gibbs Racing. Toyota took there lumps last year but they also did not have a top notch organization to back.
The Red Bull teams were improving last year and Michael Waltrip and Bill Davis had some moments last year but I know Toyota wanted more even though they were brand new out of the box.

I would be surprised if the Toyota teams, as a whole, did not improve considerably and JGR will lead that charge. The main obstacle for the other teams will be qualifying because most of them are not in the top 35 in owners points. In fact, that was a big problem last year. Looking back to '07, when Brian Vickers(Red Bull) and Dave Blaney(BDR)made races they were, more often than not, very competetive(at least for a Top 10-15 finish).

Forgive me for the long answer but to bottom line it, I think Stewart, even in a Toyota, will be a title contender. Teammates Hamlin and Busch should also do well.

As for Bowyer, I'm not sure. He is a talented driver with a good team but we will have to wait and see if the consistency is there year in and year out.

Your probably better off with Franchitti anyway. He should be really good at the 2 road courses.

Stremme lost his ride to Franchitti this year.

heartman, i actually didnt know that at the time. the league allows you to drop a driver and add an undrafted one so being that i only have to start 4 each week i may try to pick up boris said even with a limited schedule figuring i can use him on road courses, my other 4 drivers should qualify each week so i should be ok.
